What's in a name

between My valleys of work, as I start up my new hill I have realized that the name of my blog, although funny, has never been explained. so, as I start another hill of homages, design mistakes and inspiration I thought I may explain where this name came from

Creatures in magic have power and toughness as you may well know, this is usually representative of how big and strong someone is. however due to game design, the creatures in magic all have a limit to how high your power can go (not you infinity elemental, you are special). this can cause some weird situations.

Me too
I'm Special

Enter the humble squirrel The squirrel is a ferocious beast, capable of
taking down human soldiers, fire elementals, and even cars by itself. however, the mighty squirrel is most powerful in groups

Emrakul is an eldritch god from the blind eternities yet even he cannot stand up to the mighty squirrel. 15 flying squirrels are enough to defeat this elder deity, who has destroyed countless worlds.

This idea of mechanical balance sacrificing flavor creates this world where even the smallest squirrels can kill gods.

And so, as community mtg players for years have joked about the 15 brave squirrels who have sacrificed their lives to bring down a god

And that is where this blog gets its name

  1. Squirrellink is one of my favorite ability names I've seen (are they called abilities? I forget). This is one of the things I used to really like about Magic (I still like it, I just don't play the game anymore). All the abilities are pretty strange, and sometimes creatures can seem OP, but the game itself is more or less balanced, in that there is no super OP card that wins every game. Side note, I really like the art. I've never noticed the art before but it looks pretty cool. Good luck sir! *tips feather*
