Blog 7 5/14: The last of Barret's Privateers

Inspiration can strike from the strangest places.

I was working on some schoolwork on Tuesday while listening to my work playlist (Just a bunch of sea shanties) when a video by a magic content creator, Pleasentkenobi came into my notifications. me, getting off-topic as usual, decided to watch it, and partway through the video, (I won't link to it due to it being not school appropriate) inspiration struck. the video was a ranking of popular legendary creatures in commander. One of these creatures was Admiral Beckett Brass. at the mention of her name, the spark was struck.

As an enjoyer of sea shanties, I looked through my playlist until I came across a beautiful song called "The Mary Ellen Carter" by stan Rogers. and so I created my first commander for my new deck.

This is the wonderful song that inspired me R.I.P Stan Rogers

My first commander for this deck is an odd one, a vehicle is an artifact that can be "driven"(crewed) by tapping creatures powerful enough (in this case a combined power of 4) then that artifact becomes a creature. this is the first vehicle commander that can be used.

Pirates are all about stealing, and The Mary Carter steals anything as long as her crew is big enough to handle it. the text "The Mary Carter can be your commander" might seem off. this text is necessary because according to the rules only creatures may be commanders unless the card says otherwise

In conclusion, sea songs are great and you should listen to them, inspiration can strike in weird places and I'm going to have a lot of fun doing this

See you next week
