Blog 3 4/16: the other half
Well this has been interesting week, summed up perfectly by this card
yep, thats me, you might be wondering how i ended up in this situation. well i started out on a good note. reworking andfinishing a few cards for my White deck, and coming up with my second deck idea (more on that next week) But then....
Ill just admit it, i got completely stuck for a while. no clue whether the direction i was going in was any good. so i decided to spend the week looking back at the game and actually PLAYING. This project, despite revolving around magic, has had me on the biggest magic hiatus. a full 2 weeks without a game. so i decided to play a little bit, and maybe find something good to get out of it.
What im Playing: this week has been spent getting my rusty self back on the table. running several practice leagues with some pretty fun and off the wall Decks, first up one of my personal favorites! i present Blue Red Pheonix
This deck uses lots of small cheap spells to activate abilities of your creatures with the end goal being to take the Arclight phoenixes, put them in your graveyard and get them back for free to deal massive damage.
if you cant see the website here is my deck list |
Second I decided to go Rogue, with my own Rogue tribal list!!
this deck uses Rogue creatures and creatures that help Rogues to create a game where the opponent is overwhelmed by your small unlockable army. it also makes sure that The opponent has little to stop you, by forcing them to discard cards and taking cards from their library.

These past few days have really reminded me why i fell in love with this game to begin with. the fun aspect of being able to play the game however you like, along with the complex decisions that go into each game. this creates such a wonderful mix of fun and strategy that is making me want to play just thinking about it.
Deckbuilding for now is taking a small pause. Tournament magic here I come!!
Plan: find some inspiration while playing, maybe take some 5-0 tournament results along the way.
I used to play Magic and Hearthstone, and I struggled with making strategic decks. It's really impressive to see such well put together decks. Good luck in your tournaments! (Not to brag or anything, but I beat Vincent in an informal magic tournament in elementary school)
